Europe at the height of Napoleon's power, showing the Empire, its satellite kingdoms and its allies on the eve of the Russian campaign.
The settlement Napoleon and Alexander I reached at Tilsit in 1807 produced this map: a continent organised around French primacy, with Russia as a partner rather than an enemy and Britain to be strangled by the Continental System. It held for five years. The arrangement broke on the economics of the blockade, and the invasion that followed destroyed the army the map was built on.
