Our 1916 Vacation: Edison, Ford and the World's Fair
Home-movie footage of the 1916 camping trip taken by Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and their party, with scenes from the exposition at San Francisco.
Edison and Ford made a series of publicised camping trips together, filmed and circulated as a kind of early celebrity documentary. The material survives in the Ford collection at the US National Archives. It is a rare informal view of two men whose industries — electricity and the motor car — were remaking daily life while the film was being shot.
