Manufacture of Ordnance Materiel, 1917–1918
A US War Department film on the production of ordnance during American participation in the First World War.
Industrial mobilisation was the part of the war effort that decided how long armies could keep fighting. This film records the plant, machinery and workforce assembled in 1917–18 to supply an army that had been small two years earlier. It is the material backdrop to the relief organisations that had to deal with what those factories produced.
